This project, which is co-financed by the European Social Fund, aims to raise awareness on the subject of disability at national level, in order to contribute to the present and future modernization of the organization of business and civil society in general.

Considering that companies in Luxembourg often do not have enough information about the inclusion of people with disabilities, but that many companies that have signed the Diversity Charter have demonstrated an interest in recruiting such profiles, IMS Luxembourg offers companies the opportunity to address this issue through this project.

In collaboration with the ADEM, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social and Solidary Economy, the Ministry of Family and Integration and through stakeholder consultation, the project aims to:

Inform Luxembourg employers and disseminate best practices on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labour market through the creation of a practical guide. The (Handi)Cap' Emploi practical guide aims at raising awareness and putting forward concrete solutions around the topic of disabilities in the workplace. The guide, addressing employers, gives a quick overview on the different types of disabilities and the legal framework in Luxembourg, in order to subsequently reflect on the problematics but even more so the solutions that can facilitate the integration of persons with a disability within your organisation.
These “Job-Cafes” where preceded by workshops for the candidates with disabilities as well as the employers. The workshops aim at preparing both sides for the “Job-Cafe”. On the one hand they will aim at raising the employers’ awareness and empower them to enable a positive inclusion of people with disabilities. On the other hand they will prepare candidates with disabilities for the concept of “Job-Cafe” and the business world.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social and Solidary Economy as well as the Ministry of Family and Integration, the project continues in 2018 and 2019 with the creation of an inter-company working group gathering 10 companies and 2 non-profit organizations: ALD Automotive, BIL, CGI, Deloitte, EIB, Hogan Lovells, Post, Sodexo, the City of Luxembourg, the City, Info-Handicap and Coopérations s.c..

During the working group meetings, participants have the opportunity to initiate a reflection in order to develop a vision of disability in the workplace. Indeed, after having collectively reflected on the notion of disability in the workplace and the issues that can be associated with it, the participating organizations positioned themselves on one or more themes for the rest of the project: sourcing, the role of management and collective labour, job retention and return to work, as well as performance and productivity.

In turn, the participating companies present their respective practices, but also reflect on possible solutions. Then they chose a project on which they would like to position themselves in order to test them internally, by creating project sheets.

Between 2015 and 2017, the project made it possible to publish a practical guide that aims at raise awareness and suggesting concrete solutions around the theme of disability in the workplace as well as a comprehensive communication kit to raise awareness among all employees of an organization.
